Weaving with Words

  • Green Lake Small Craft Center 5900 West Green Lake Way North Seattle (map)

Through a combination of conversational exploration, reminiscence, and deep listening, reveal threads and insights to weave an image of a person in written form. Our structure and a template will invite words to flow, and a depiction of a person living with dementia to be captured, with plenty of room for creativity. Conceived primarily as an opportunity for individuals living with memory loss to state who they are, with support from someone who knows them, the opportunity may be relevant for individuals to attend alone -- whether living with memory loss or in a carepartner relationship. No special abilities needed! Being open to inspiration from the view, others in the room, creative play, and to creating and sharing a powerful tapestry of a person through language is all that is necessary. Expect to connect in dyads, and as a group. Details emailed to registered participants prior to the program start date. A conversation with SPR's Dementia-Friendly Recreation Specialist is required for 1st time participants. Please contact tamara.keefe@seattle.gov to schedule, or with questions.
