Dementia & Aging in the 21st Century

Dr. Allen Power, geriatrician, author, educator, and musician, will highlight the larger issues of dementia and aging in the 21st century. He will address the nature of dementia (including drawbacks in our current medical approach), and discuss demographic trends and our need to shift societal views, systems and accommodations. He will also share information about the emerging movement around human rights for people living with dementia and share a vision for a more inclusive society.

Dr. Allen Power is a board-certified internist, geriatrician, and internationally-recognized educator and expert on transformational models of care for older adults, particularly those living with changing cognitive abilities. He is the author of two books: Dementia Beyond Drugs: Changing the Culture of Care and Dementia Beyond Disease: Enhancing Well-Being.

Dr. Power is the keynote speaker for the Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter’s Discovery 2019 Regional Conference at the Washington State Convention Center, Seattle, on March 8, 2019.
