The Dementia Friendly Community: Applying a Philosophy of Inclusion for Persons with Dementia

The model of a community will be applied to working with persons with dementia. Examples of internationally successful dementia-friendly communities will be presented, along with a discussion of how making communities dementia-friendly actually enhances quality of life for all members of a community. Ways to translate this model into long-term care will also be presented.
