The Koi Pond art piece is a group collaboration created by Momentia participants at a monthly gathering. Each participant and their care partner was given a blank sheet of watercolor paper and a printed outline of a koi fish. The blank paper soon became a waterscape as each expressed their impressions with watercolors of blue, purple and silver. Next, they sponge painted, cut and formed the koi into three-dimensional swimmers. The results were magical! those who finished early were assigned the additional task of stenciling the paper tiles that frame the piece. After all the participants had left, the pond was assembled for exhibition. From a distance the piece appears to be a cohesive pool of fish, but upon closer inspetion you can see all the amazing details contributed by each individual artist.
